Founded in 1999 by foreign missionaries who moved to Rio de Janeiro, Rio International School came to meet the needs of their families, who were looking for a Christian international education of excellence.
Since then, as an international school, we have improved our social-emotional and pedagogical approach, innovative in the education sector and forming citizens with high knowledge and solid ethical and moral principles.
We are proud of having unforgettable positive moments and experiences with the families of our community, being grateful to the parents who trust on RIS with the education of their children, from preschool (Pre-K) to the last year of high school (High School).
Our results have been demonstrated by the achievements and recognition that Rio International School has acquired over more than 20 years of its trajectory, being part of the success story of former students who entered high-level universities in Brazil and abroad.

RIS receives “International School” accreditation by COGNIA, the largest American agency in this segment.

Expansion of the Campus structure.

RIS opens its gates to receive students of Brazilian nationality.

RIS is recognized by the Secretary of Education of the State of Rio de Janeiro, upon receiving the seal of “International School”.
2018
RIS improves its advanced study program by offering Advanced Placement – AP courses and administering these exams with the authorization of the American College Board.
2021
Renovation of school environments and adoption of the concept of themed rooms.

Implementation of a range portfolio of After School activities through partnerships with renowned institutes.

RIS becomes a member of ACSI – Association of Christian Schools International.
